Parking Permit Privileges

Parking privileges at CSULB are provided in accordance with each permit classification. Paid parking is required at all times when parking on campus. All forms of paid parking are nontransferable. Parking privileges may be revoked at any time for individuals found sharing or falsely using another individual's virtual or physical permit.

Virtual Permits

CSULB uses the License Plate Recognition (LPR) permitting systemYou will not need to display a physical hangtag or paper permit if you have purchased one of the following virtual permits. Please ensure your license plate number has been entered correctly into the online parking portal to avoid unnecessary citations.

 

Student

Valid in lots designated as General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. This permit is also valid in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking after 5:30 p.m., and all day on weekends.

Employee

Valid in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Employee virtual permits are also valid in Short-Term parking spaces after 5:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon throughout 11:59 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Daily

Daily Parking can be purchased at campus parking pay stations. Daily Parking is valid from the time of purchase until 11:59 p.m. that day in lots designated as General (G) Parking. Daily parking is also available after 5:30 p.m. and all day on weekends in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking. Visitors requiring accessible parking may visit the Visitor Information Center (VIC) for Daily permits and additional accessible parking information. Daily parking purchases are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Short-Term

Short-Term parking is available in 30, 60, or 90 minute increments and can be purchased at the pay stations located within the parking lots where Short-Term spaces are provided. These lots include G1, G4, G10, G15, E1, E5, the Beachside parking lot, the South Turnaround, and the street parking spaces located on State University Drive.

Short-Term parking is valid only in the lot in which it was purchased. Short-Term parking purchases are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Resident, Beachside ("B")

Valid in designated Resident spaces within the Beachside parking lot. Beachside virtual permits are also valid in designated Employee (E) Parking and General (G) Parking after 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and all day on Fridays and weekends unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Overnight parking with this permit is allowed in designated Beachside Resident spaces only.

Resident, On-Campus ("R")

Valid in designated Resident spaces within Lot R1, R2, or R3. On-campus Resident (R) permits are also valid in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking and General (G) Parking after 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and all day Fridays and weekends unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Overnight parking must be in designated resident parking spaces located in Lot R1, R2, or R3.

Overnight (Resident Guest)

Valid for parking in Lot G2 only. Overnight parking is valid 24 hours from the time of purchase (main campus) or starting at 5 p.m. until 8:59 a.m. the following morning (Beachside campus). The Overnight Resident Guest virtual permit can only be purchased from the parking pay station within Lot G2 or the Beachside parking lot.

Motorcycle

Valid in designated motorcycle spaces only. Please visit our campus map for designated motorcycle parking locations.

Emeriti

Valid in designated Employee (E) Parking, General Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage.

Volunteer

Valid in areas designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Employee virtual permits are also valid in Short-Term parking spaces after 5:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Official Guest of the University

Valid in Official Guest of the University spaces (South Campus Turnaround), Short-Term parking spaces (G1, G4, G15, E1, E5 State University Drive), all campus parking structures, and lots designated as General (G) Parking unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage.

Activity

Valid in all designated General Parking and all Parking Structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Activity permits are valid after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. To obtain an Activity Permit, please fill out the Parking Request Form [PDF] and bring the completed form along with a valid drivers license to the Cashiers Office (BH 148) during normal business hours.

Community

Valid in all lots designated as General (G) Parking and the three campus parking structures. This permit is also valid in any Employee (E) Lot after 5:30 p.m., and all day on the weekends. To obtain a Community Permit, please contact the Parking office at 562.985.4146.

LifeFit

Valid in E4 Permit spaces in the southern section of Lot E4. This permit is also valid in lots designated as General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. To obtain a LifeFit Permit, please fill out the Parking Request Form [PDF] and bring the completed form along with a valid drivers license to the Cashiers Office (BH 148) during normal business hours.

Disabled Student Services (DSS)

Valid in all lots designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. To obtain a DSS permit, please bring documentation supporting the need for accessibility to the Disabled Student Services Office, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Office of the President Permit

Valid in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking, Short-Term parking spaces, and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage.

Special Events Permit

Special Events permits are specific and are generally ordered in bulk through the campus EMS system. Permit costs will vary based on the agreement with Parking and Transportation Services and other departments/organizations hosting the event.
