News and Updates:

• Watch the recorded session of CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White's Conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci. Dr. Fauci shares his perspective on the COVID-19 challenges and opportunities facing the country's largest four-year university.

• In this video, ATS shares their Spring 2021 services and updates. Watch now to learn more about the resources available. You can also find new faculty and staff development programs and Spring 2021 software updates on their ATS Newsletter.

• What is CSULB doing to protect our online information? Starting March 22, CSULB will be implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), also known as two-step verification, for faculty and staff. Learn more about why we’re doing this, along with the MFA project roadmap, and resources to assist you when we go live.

• The small number of courses that were approved for face-to face (F2F) on campus instruction will remain in alternative modes until March 1, not the previous Feb 1 timeline. Instructors for these F2F courses will communicate information to students about the specifics for their classes. Additionally, faculty will not have access to their offices, except for brief periods to pick up books and other materials, until further notice. Learn more about this update here. 

• Faculty can request Zoom Rooms, or Hyflex classrooms, on campus to teach in if needed. As the Spring 2021 semester will continue with alternative modes of instruction (AMI), safety is the top priority so access to these rooms will be limited. To request to use one of these rooms, please contact your Department Chair or College Dean. Technical assistance will be provided by the Academic Technology Services' Classroom Support team.

• The CSU announced that it anticipates a return to in-person coursework for Fall 2021 Term. Learn more about this decision here.

• Cal State Long Beach is among the educational institutions in the region that will begin to receive shipments of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine in the coming weeks. Learn more about the vaccine 

• In Fall 2020, a new process was piloted to help faculty import students’ final grades into Peoplesoft. This application was pilot-tested in 426 classes, importing 13,547 grades successfully. Learn more here.

• There are a variety of coronavirus testing options available in Long Beach. Learn more about the available local options on the Long Beach City government website. 

• CSU Chancellor's Office Quality Assurance Teaching Online Spring workshops are available now! Register for these free courses online here. 

• You are all invited to the 33rd CSULB Student Research Competition online on March 19 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Encourage all students to submit their research for this competition! Students must submit proposals by Monday, February 1st, and can find more information here.
