Provost Brian Jersky
Welcome to the 2017-18 academic year! I hope you have had a productive, enjoyable summer.

You are invited to the first event of the year -

Convocation on Friday, August 25

Carpenter Performing Arts Center

Breakfast: 8:00 am – 9:00 am

Program: 9:00 am – 10:00 am

Parking is available in Lot 12, PS3, and Lot 3.

We have 38 new tenure-track faculty members starting this fall. I hope you will join President Conoley and me at Convocation to greet this new cohort, reconnect with colleagues, reflect on the past year and focus on the year ahead.

Soon we will welcome 4,200 freshmen and 3,850 transfer students to campus. Our total projected headcount is 37,000. The number of full-time equivalent students is expected to be 31,000 – with 26,500 continuing students returning this fall.

My first year on campus has reaffirmed my initial impressions of The Beach. This year I was fortunate to spend time with faculty and staff who are passionate about educating and helping our students.  I developed a deeper understanding of the critical projects and programs that create educational pathways.  This university, with our dedicated, talented and smart faculty and staff, continues to rise above expectations. I am looking to increasing our forward educational momentum this academic year as we build on the excellent foundation you have already established.

-Brian
