The Apostle Incubator Boot Camp is a 6-week workshop series presented by CSULB's Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the College of Business(COB). This program provides an opportunity for students and community members to develop business plans, strategic marketing, financial management, and other major topics to support their business.
CSULB COB Instructor, Bruce Sparks, returns to teach an intense overview of how to build a robust business plan with team building support provided by iNK Digital Networking. Upon completion of the program, a Certificate of Training in entrepreneurship will be awarded to participants who complete the 6-week program. This program is completely FREE and available for anyone to participate.

How do I register with iNK?
We are proud to be utilizing local small business iNK Digital Networking for our event check-in and team building support. It is necessary to complete a few simple steps to allow you to exchange your business cards digitally and find specific connections to help your business.
- Download the iNK Digital Networking app via Google Play or iTunes.
- Create an account and set-up your business card. This program will provide you with access to other local events and communities too.
- Only your name and company will be public, your contact information cannot be accessed unless you agree to share it with specific contacts.
- Remember to include your own keyword affiliations ie: techstartupLB, LBdesignrecruiting, smallbusinessinvestor, realestateagent, etc.
- RSVP by searching BEACH ENTREPRENEUR BOOT CAMP in the “event” tab of your iNK app and select “RSVP”.
- Open the iNK app and click “scan” from your homepage to capture the QR code at the registration table.
- Now you can request to connect with others via the "attendees list" or by scanning their QR from your homepage.
What should I bring to the Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp?
You are not required to bring anything to participate however optional items include; business cards, laptop or other note taking materials. You are welcome to bring personal snacks as food and beverages will not be provided at this event.
How to I get to the event and do I have to pay for parking?
The CSULB campus address is 1250 Bellflower Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90840. The Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp is located in the College of Business building, room 140a.
From the 405 Freeway: Exit South on Bellflower Blvd., Turn Left on Beach Dr., Turn Left on Merriam Way, Turn Right into Lot E1 or G5. From the 22 Freeway: Continue on 7th St., Turn Right on Bellflower Blvd., Turn Right on Beach Dr., Turn Left on Merriam Way, Turn Right into Lot E1 or G5
*Employee lots (E1) are only available to the public after 5:30pm.
A campus map is available for additional information. Parking can be paid hourly or $10 for the day, you will need your license plate number when paying at the parking meters. You may also visit CSULB's transportation website for eco-friendly ways to arrive to the event.
Can I participate if I don't have a business idea or team?
Everyone is welcome to attend the Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp - students, business owners, community members, etc. If you don't have a team or a business idea, this event will provide an opportunity for you to join or create what you need.
How can I qualify to receive the Certificate in Training?
To receive the certificate, you must sign in at all six workshops and submit the required assignments. The certificates will be presented at the final meeting on August 13th.
What materials will be provided to me from this event?
Presentation slides prepared by the Instructor will emailed to workshop attendees after each workshop.
What is the format of each workshop?
Each workshop will discuss a specific topic relating to creating a business plan. Within the 3-hour workshop, breaks will be provided for independent team work and one-on-one questions with event instructors and support staff.
Can I pitch my business idea at this event? Are prizes available?
The final meeting on August 13th will provide an opportunity for teams to pitch their business idea to community leaders. Check the competition criteria (PDF) to see if you are eligible.
A grant from the Long Beach Community Foundation will fund the prize money for the winners of the Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp pitch competition.
- First place will receive $1000.
- Second place will receive $750.
- Third place will receive $500.
- 'Audience Choice' award will receive $250.*
All winners will receive in-kind tech hours from Saguna Consulting, which offers a variety of services to advance the development of your business.
*The Audience's Choice will be determined by the most likes received on the IIE Facebook page during the final competition on August 13th. A photo of the team will be posted on the IIE Facebook page once the team has pitched and people will be able to vote until the winners are announced at 8:45pm on the 13th. People are encouraged to vote even if they are not at the competition, so tell you friends!
