Graduate Programs Costs Overview

The Cost of Attendance, or budget, is broadly defined as the average cost to attend CSULB for one 9-month academic year consisting of the fall and spring semesters. A budget includes tuition and campus based fees, and an estimate of average costs for books and supplies, room and board, transportation and personal expenses. Below are the tuition and cost estimates for an academic year, as of March 10, 2020. 

For informational purposes only: In accordance with California Assembly Bill 990, California State University, Long Beach provides the typical market cost of a one bedroom apartment in the Long Beach area: 1 Bedroom: $1,907 per month

What are my additional costs?

The following items are included in the “Additional Costs” listed in the chart above.

Room and Board
The average cost per academic year to live in Long Beach while attending CSULB. Actual costs may vary by individual choices related to location and circumstances. All amounts for Off-Campus assume a roommate.

Books and Supplies
The average cost of books and supplies per academic year.

Transportation
The average cost of travelling to allowance provided to assist students who require transportation to campus from out of town and vice versa, not to maintain a vehicle.

Personal Expenses
The average amount for personal expenses—from clothing and laundry to going to a movie or buying a pizza—each year.
