Katie Summers
Katie Summers is a MFA Student and Teaching Associate at CSULB Dance. She is currently teaching Introduction to Modern.
Kate holds a BFA in Dance Performance from the University of California, Irvine. Her undergraduate summers were spent with the American Dance Festival, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, New Dialect, and Northwest Dance Project. Additionally, she received UCI’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Grant to research site-specific improvisation in Italy under the guidance of Lisa Naugle, Ph.D. She has since danced with Redding City Dance Company and interned at Bethel Conservatory of the Arts. Her interest in the mind-body connection led her to attend Countertechnique workshops led by Charles Slender-White as well as complete Studio du Corp’s 450 Hour Pilates Teacher Training Program.
Her research interests pertain to the correlation between her poetry-writing and dance-making practices as well as her passion for the overall health of the dancing person and dance community: mind, body, and spirit.
