As a follow up to President Conoley’s message on December 22, 2021, please review these important instructions for completing the COVID-19 booster requirement: All students and non-represented staff who are coming to campus are required to have their COVID-19 booster shot by FEBRUARY 28, 2022 or six months after receiving their final dose of the original vaccination, whichever is later.

At the recommendation of local public-health officials and out of an abundance of caution, we will begin our spring semester on January 20 by offering primarily remote instruction to students, delaying most face-to-face instruction until Monday, February 7.

As we approach the finish line of this semester, another challenge has emerged. The first cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant have been recorded in Long Beach by public health officials. While this is concerning, there are many steps we can take to stay healthy and safe during finals week and heading into the holiday season.

You most likely have heard the news of the emerging COVID-19 Omicron variant. Our campus is closely monitoring the situation in partnership with our local public health officials. While we are still learning much about Omicron, we know enough about COVID-19 to take steps now that can reduce transmission for this and other emerging variants of concern.

We've navigated this relentless pandemic with non-stop planning for our safe, incremental resumption of more campus-based operations. This planning has been ongoing for many months — always with a close connection to the environmental factors that surround us. It's been rewarding to see more and more members of our campus community on site.
