Student COVID News – February Update

Published February 18, 2022

Dear students,

As we enter the spring semester, it’s wonderful to see most of our students back on campus - It’s also important that we all keep the precautions in mind. Please refer to the following updates and our Spring 2022 COVID-19 video on how to stay safe this semester.

Mask Update

LA County and CSULB still require masks to be worn indoors at all times. The state of California recently announced that fully vaccinated individuals soon will not be required to wear masks indoors, but this does not apply to our campus. The CDC highly recommends surgical or KN95 masks as opposed to cloth.

Cases & Exposures

As students return to campus, we are seeing an expected increase in on-campus cases. However, the case rates and testing positivity are trending downward. So far, there are zero class cluster cases this semester.

Pre-Screens

Thank you for completing the pre-screen! During our first week of on-campus classes only 1.8% of students completing the pre-screen received a Red X. COVID-19 pre-screens are required each day before you come to campus and are enforced in some indoor areas.

Welcome back and Go Beach!
