SOAR

Summer SOAR 2021

New freshmen and transfer students have two required components to help with your transition to CSULB:

  • SOAR Virtual Orientation Component led by Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR).
  • Advising & Registration Component led by your department academic advisor.

These two components require multiple steps, and deadlines will vary based on your major. Check your personal email and your new CSULB email for updates and read the information below thoroughly so you understand the full process. Your enrollment at the university may be in jeopardy if you do not register for classes and complete your SOAR Virtual Orientation Component.

Steps to Complete your SOAR Virtual Orientation Component:

  1. Visit SOAR Workshop Information to learn how to sign up for a SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop, along with viewing important dates, deadlines, and other information. Complete the Pre-SOAR BeachBoard Course at least one week prior to your scheduled SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop date. This course is available via BeachBoard starting Thursday, May 27. Visit What To Do Before Your SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop to learn about accessing the Zoom app, requesting disability-related accommodations, paying fees/tuition and other important information.
  2. Participate in your required SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop. This workshop provides an orientation to campus life, expectations of community members, resources and services, along with an opportunity to connect with students who share the same major.
    1. Your SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop Confirmation will be emailed to you at least two weeks prior to your scheduled workshop date. Visit the SOAR website for additional information.
  3. If you can’t participate in or miss your virtual orientation workshop, contact SOAR.

Steps to Complete your Online Advising & Registration Component:

  1. Complete the Online Advising & Registration Course: Login to Single Sign On and access BeachBoard. This course will be available starting May 27, 2021 and must be completed before registering for courses.
  2. Register for courses during your assigned registration date one week prior to your scheduled SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop.
