Advising

Winter SOAR 2021

New transfer students have two required components to help with your transition to CSULB:

  • Orientation Component led by Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR).
  • Advising & Registration Component led by your department academic advisor.

These two components require multiple steps, and deadlines will vary based on your major. Check your personal email and your new CSULB email for updates and read the information below thoroughly so you understand the full process. Your enrollment at the university may be in jeopardy if you do not register for classes and complete your Orientation Component.

Steps to Complete your Orientation Component

  1. Visit SOAR Information for Transfer Students to learn how to sign up for a SOAR Virtual Orientation Workshop, along with viewing important dates, deadlines, and other information.
  2. If you can’t participate in or miss your virtual orientation workshop, contact SOAR@csulb.edu.

Steps to Complete your Advising & Registration Component:

  1. Complete the Online Advising & Registration Course: Login to Single Sign On and access BeachBoard. This course will be available starting December 1, 2020 and must be completed before registering for courses.

Select your department below for more information on: Receiving List of Recommended Courses; Registering for Courses; and Receiving Advising.
