Professional Development Programs

We contract directly with agencies, schools, districts, and other organizations to offer professional development to their teachers and child care professionals. Each of our programs is designed to engage teachers in science and/or engineering activities as they joyfully develop their teaching confidence and competence. Each of our workshops can accommodate 30 teachers and can be catered to meet your organization's specific needs.

Head Start on Science for Pre-K Teachers

This intensive, multi-day, engaging and hands-on professional development institute is designed to make teachers more comfortable, confident, and capable of sharing developmentally-appropriate science with young children. Topics include:

  • doing science outdoors
  • STEM explorations
  • questioning strategies
  • science practices and skills
  • addressing science misconceptions

Early Head Start on Science for Teachers of Toddlers

This hands-on and joyful, multi-day professional development institute takes a sensory and skills-based approach toward science. Helping teachers and caregivers to design and implement science experiences that will expand toddler's curiosity and wonder. Topics include:

  • nature explorations
  • the five senses
  • questioning strategies
  • science practices and skills
  • STEM explorations

Early Childhood Engineering for Pre-K and TK Teachers

In this half-day, hands-on professional development workshop you will learn what engineering is, and what it's not, along with how to best design and facilitate engineering experiences for children. Topics include:

  • early childhood engineering
  • alignment with standards
  • engineering and C.L.A.S.S.
  • re-imagining your block center
  • engineering throughout the day
