New Summer Interns

The Center for Latino Community Health welcomed 17 new interns for the summer of 2019. The summer semester uniquely allows for internships to go to students from other universities during their summer break. This summer, the Center is hosting three undergaduate students, Horacio Genis, Rosalba Saavedra and Rocio Bacerra, from California State University, Monterey Bay to live and work in Long Beach for six weeks. Rosalba is a Kinesiology major with a double minor is Psychology and Biology. Horacio wishes to complete a Master of Science Physician Assistant at a Cal State after he graduates. Rocio also has career aspirations to become a PA and give back to her community of Salinas, CA.

Most of the Center's interns are still from CSULB including Melissa Viera who is a Health Science student with an emphasis in community health. She plans to pursue a Master's degree in occupational therapy with the goal of becoming a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. Zeinab Jaafar is Master of Public Health student who wishes to earn her PhD in Public Health and become a college professor. Brenda Rosales is a CSULB student seeking a career in health education after nursing school. Paula Duarte is a junior at Millikan High School in Long Beach. Her goal is to be accepted to a four-year university to study biomedical or biochemical engineering. Jacqueline Netro Beltran currently attends Pennsylvania State University with a major in Kinesiology and plans to get her MPH in either community or global health. The Center also welcomes Marissa Juaregui, Noah Ferrel, Daisy Corona, Angelica Durazo, Eduardo Renteria, Eldy Martinez, Lizette Sanchez, Lea Ann Gomez, and Carolina Carbajal.
