MAE Graduate Programs
CSULB offers graduate programs in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. An interdisciplinary option is also available. Read more about the programs below.
Tailored to working professionals with evening classes, CSULB’s graduate Aerospace Engineering program helps practicing engineers increase their competence or prepare for more advanced study. Students can complete their Master of Science degrees with a thesis or comprehensive exam. A limited number of teaching or research assistant positions are available. Students can focus on:
- Aerospace Structures and Materials
- Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Aerospace System Engineering
- Combustion and Propulsion
Tailored to working professionals with evening classes, CSULB’s graduate Mechanical Engineering program helps practicing engineers increase their competence or prepare for more advanced study. Students can complete their Master of Science degrees with a thesis or comprehensive exam. A limited number of teaching or research assistant positions are available. Students can focus on:
- Dynamics, vibration, control, and robotics
- Fluid and thermal sciences
- Mechanics and materials, or
- Design and manufacturing
Students wishing to pursue advanced study may be interested in the College of Engineering’s Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) degree. Graduate study leading to the MSE can be tailored to the goals of a student with a background in chemical engineering by taking advanced course work to develop expertise in one of four areas:
- Environmental: Chemistry and civil engineering
- Controls: Electrical engineering
- Microelectronics: Computer engineering
- Thermal, fluids, and materials: Mechanical engineering
With most courses offered in the evening, the program is tailored to working professionals.
CSULB offers this interdisciplinary doctoral program jointly with the Claremont Graduate University. The program of study for each Ph.D. candidate is carefully integrated to ensure the interdisciplinary nature of each student’s research.
