School Counseling Students to Present Action Research at National Conference

Six School Counseling master’s students will be presenting at the Evidence-Based School Counseling Conference March 10th and 11th, 2017 in San Diego. Brian Ponce, Cesar Rodriguez, Janet Cardoso-Maresh, Vanessa Hernandez, Rachael Hamlet, and Carlos Campos will be presenting the results of their Participatory Action Research projects, completed under the direction of Dr. Caroline Lopez. During the Fall semester, students in COUN 606: Current Issues in School Counseling created and implemented a participatory action research project at their fieldwork sites in collaboration with school and community stakeholders. Based on school data, students developed interventions as part of the school counseling program to address areas of need/inequity among K-12 students. The Evidence-Based School Counseling Conference provides school counselors with critical information about successful practice, evaluation, and relevant research to create dynamic and powerful school counseling programs.
