Autumn Cunningham
Dr. Cunningham is a 2022 graduate of our doctoral program in educational leadership; she brings with her several years of experience in academic advising and counseling.
Dr. Cunningham has most recently served a counselor and part-time faculty member in counseling at Loyola Marymount University. She has extensive experience in advising and counseling at various institutions of higher education, including community colleges, the CSU, and private universities.
Throughout her career, she has had a focused interest in the promotion of social justice and racial equity in higher education. This commitment has driven her passion to introduce innovative programming and policies that are directed at unraveling institutional barriers as well as providing equitable avenues for success for marginalized student populations at several institutions, including CSU Dominguez Hills.
Dr. Cunningham was an inaugural Racial Equity Fellows, supported by the Educational Leadership department, and she will continue her work of active inclusion for students of color as a faculty member in the College of Education.
Some of her personal passions are the theater, Greek Mythology, and time for reading fiction.
Dr. Cunningham received her Master of Arts in Counseling from LMU and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from CSULB. Her research is centered on the sense of belonging of Black female undergraduates attending Hispanic-serving institutions. Dr. Cunningham is eager and excited to work with our students as well as advance our mission of equity and justice.
