Future Teacher Club Day – Connecting Students from High School through College

Published December 9, 2019

Earlier this fall, the College of Education hosted Future Teacher Club Day with students from Millikan and Polytechnic High School, both part of Long Beach Unified School District, as well as Long Beach City College (LBCC) and students from CSULB’s College of Education.

This event is designed to connect students from area high schools, LBCC, and CSULB interested in teaching as a career. College of Education workshops and advising sessions focused on math and science teaching careers, of which there is a great need, as well as career development skills, and facilitated discussions about the teaching profession overall. A student panel, led by LBCC and CSULB students, allowed college students the opportunity to share their own higher education journey and how they’re preparing for their teaching careers with the high schoolers in attendance, providing both guidance and inspiration to these future educators.
