Information for Current Mentors

In this section of the BUILD website, we have gathered resources that will help you make the most of your experience as a CSULB BUILD Research Mentor. You will find links to those resources in the left-hand navigation area, as well as in the drop-down from the "For Mentors" tab in the top navigation. To help you locate the information you are looking for, here are short descriptions of the content found on those pages.

  • Finding BUILD Mentees: Here you will find information on how to update your profile in the Mentor Database, as well as tips for attracting the right BUILD mentees to your program.

  • Mentor Responsibilities: This page provides a high-level overview of your responsibilities as a BUILD Mentor. For more detailed information, download the current BUILD Mentor MOU. (docx file)

  • BUILD Mentor Training: The BUILD Mentor Orientation course is provided in short 1- to 6-minute videos. Each is labeled with their topic and time length. Additional training resources are also listed at the bottom of the page.

  • Acknowledging BUILD in Publications: NIH requires that all research publications and presentations supported by BUILD funding must acknowledge the support. This page provides instructions and further details regarding this requirement.

  • Applications for BUILD Awards: Information about forthcoming or past BUILD funding Awards are located in this section.

  • Mentor Newsletter: Each month we email the Research Mentor News to all mentors with updates, announcements, and other pertinent information. If you miss an issue or want to look at past issues, you will find them here.

  • Current Syllabi: Occasionally, BUILD trainees are required to attend events that will prevent them from working in your lab. You can plan for these dates by reviewing the current syllabus of the Learning Community your mentee addends. These are updated each semester.
