Now that December is here, expect for holiday music to fill the air. For those seeking to enrich their exposure to the seasonal, musical delights of Long Beach, check out these upcoming events:

Caribbean Holiday Celebration

This annual celebration by the California State University, Long Beach Steel Drum Orchestra features holiday music combined with selections of seasonal tunes from the Caribbean, including Soca Parang and Reggae, along with classical music arrangements. The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. in CSULB’s Gerald Daniel Recital Hall. For more information, click here.

Winter Festival Concert

More than 200 singers are going to ring in the holidays with carols, songs, and classical works in the historic sanctuary of First Congregational Church of Long Beach. Audiences have viewed this traditional concert for over 40 years. The performance is going to take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 and 8 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. For more information, click here.

David Benoit Christmas Tribute to Charlie Brown [EDIT]

David Benoit, an American jazz pianist, composer and producer, plans to bring in the holiday spirit to the Long Beach Carpenter Center, along with special guests Jane Monheit, jazz and pop vocalist, and the All-American Boys Chorus. The evening will be filled with tunes from Vince Guaraldi – specifically his music scores that he did for the Peanuts series. The event is taking place on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. For more information, click here.
