Kurt Brouwer

Kurt Brouwer
Kurt Brouwer is the Buyer with the City of Newport Beach. He has been with the City for over 31 years, and he supervises the operation of the Central Warehouse in addition to procuring goods and services for all thirteen departments throughout the Orange County municipal government. Kurt received his MPA from Long Beach State in 2000 – his research at the time focused on organizational ethics. Before joining the BOD a few years ago, he volunteered at on-campus radio station KLON (now KKJZ) supporting the Concert Productions staff at special events such as the Jazz and Blues Caravans, assisting artists at the Blues Unplugged concerts at CPAC, and managing artist accommodations for more than a decade at the Long Beach Blues Festival. Kurt and his wife, Teri, were active with the President’s Scholars program for a number of years. Program Director Valerie Bordeaux affectionately called Teri the Cookie Lady because she always baked cookies and treats for the staff and scholars. Kurt enjoys working with both older alums and the volunteers – his favorite annual events include the Golden Grads Celebration, the Volunteer Appreciation Reception, and Concerts at the Beach. Kurt’s son, Jakob, is a 2015 CSULB graduate (BS, Mechanical Engineering) and was a President’s Scholar and President’s Ambassador while on campus. Jakob is now a Quality Engineer at the Disney Resort in Anaheim.
