Director of Special projects, CSU Chancellor's Office (ret.)
Colleen Bentley retired in 2014 after eight years as the Director of Special Projects; 10 years as the Director of Public Affairs; and five years as the Manager of Media Relations, for the California State University (CSU) Office of the Chancellor.
She wrote speeches and articles for the Chancellor and CSU Board of Trustees; worked with the 23 campus presidents on various issues; created award-winning videos and served as the main spokesperson for the Chancellor’s Office. She has conducted media training for universities for more than 20 years, and consults on communications-related issues.
She is a former newspaper reporter in Los Angeles County and Las Vegas. Her bachelor’s degree is from CSULB and she did her graduate work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she also was a part-time faculty member and editor of the student newspaper.
She has served on the CSULB Alumni Association Board since 2011, and currently is the CSULB volunteer representative to the statewide CSU Alumni Council. “I am so pleased to be involved with CSULB, and hope to contribute the best I can to serve my university and our community.” She also is the vice president for the LB Transit Board of Directors; a member of the LB Public Library Foundation’s public affairs committee; on Leadership Long Beach’s Honorary Board of Governors; and is the LB Community Improvement League treasurer.
