Academic Technology Services (ATS) News

shariq ahmedMessage from Dr. Shariq Ahmed, AVP of Academic Technology

Welcome to the Fall 2020 semester. It is my pleasure to have recently joined Cal State Long Beach and serve as your Associate Vice President for Academic Technology Services.

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our move to alternative modes of instruction, the Academic Technology Services (ATS) team has been busy supporting faculty in transforming their courses to alternative modalities. Over the summer, the team developed several professional development events to support faculty, presenting various technology tools and strategies for remote instruction. Most notably, the multi-week Go Virtual Symposium offered a review of technology tools and a rich discussion by academic experts on various topics. In addition, a self-paced Online Learning Studio was offered as a BeachBoard course to help faculty explore online pedagogy and develop courses. Approximately 1,021 faculty members participated in these offerings.

ATS will continue to provide support and development opportunities for our faculty throughout the Fall semester. Visit our Events and Workshops page for details of upcoming offerings as well as links to resources from past events.

Have a wonderful Fall semester, and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, or concerns.

Go Beach!

Shariq Ahmed, Associate Vice President
