In order to view Chinese characters, you need Chinese fonts. If your browser is Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher version, it may already have Chinese fonts. If not, you can  go to Microsoft web site to download and install their Chinese fonts with input method. For Windows 2000 users, please install the multilanguage pack (Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese). The Chinese Input Method (for Windows 2000 only) can be downloaded here. If it works properly, you will be able to see the following lines in Chinese:
你好,我现在学中文(Simplified)
你好﹐我現在學中文 (Traditional)
You may also use NJStar Communicator 2.2, Chinese Star, RichWin or TwinBridge. The easiest way is to download and install a trial version of NJStar Communicator 2.2 and see if it works. A brief instructions for using NJStar communicator is here in pdf format.

In order to view Chinese Pinyin, you need new unicode fonts. If your operation system is Windows 2000 or XP, the fonts are already there. If not, click here to download and install the new unicode fonts. Follow the instructions on the downloading page. After you have upgraded the fonts you must be able to see the following line in Pinyin with tone markers.

Níhǎo! Wǒ xiànzài xué Zhōngwén. (Times New Roman)
Níhǎo! Wǒ xiànzài xué Zhōngwén. (Arial)
Níhǎo! Wǒ xiànzài xué Zhōngwén.(Courier New)
