National Taiwan Normal University Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language

Job Opening for one or two open-rank faculty positions (Assistant/Associate/Full professor).Review of applications will begin February 20, 2006, and continue until the position is filled.

The Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan, has two additional open-rank tenure track positions (Assistant/Associate or Full Professor), with preference given to candidates with an expertise in Chinese language pedagogy, teacher training, Chinese language testing and assessment, psycholinguistics, bilingual education, or cross-cultural communication. Work begins August 1, 2006. Teaching experience in L2 Chinese is a plus.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics, East Asian Language and Culture, Chinese Language and Literature, or a related field. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience, based on the pre-established standards of national universities. Previous full-time teaching and research experience in overseas can be counted toward the salary scale in all three ranks.

TUFTS UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF GERMAN, RUSSIAN & ASIAN LANGUAGES & LITERATURES

 Full-time Lecturer in Chinese Language; to begin September, 2006; renewable. Responsibilities include Chinese language instruction at all levels and curriculum development; department and university service, including advising; 3 courses per semester.

Requirements: native or near‑native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English; experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching Chinese at the college level in the U.S.; demonstrated commitment to language teaching and curriculum development. 

M.A. required; preference given to applicants with special training in Chinese language teaching, applied linguistics, foreign language pedagogy, or a related field.
