NEWS 消息

On July 4, 2004, a forum on CFL Teacher Development: Goals, Criteria, Implementation, and Assessment (汉语作为外语教学师资培训研讨会)was held at Capital University of Economics and Business (首都经贸大学) in Beijing, China.  This forum was co-sponsored by three agencies: the Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (国家对外汉语教学领导小组办公室), Capital University of Economics and Business, and the Associated Colleges in China program (ACC).  The organizing committee members included: Yanqing Zhao of NOCFL, Hong Gang Jin of Hamilton College, Jennifer Liu of Indiana University, and Hsin-hsin Liang of the University of Virginia.  This forum included five panels on:

(1) Current Teacher Training Practices

(2) Voices from Trainees

(3) Expectations and Qualifications of CFL Teachers

(4) Supervision of CFL Teachers

(5) Certification of CFL Teachers, and four follow-up discussion sessions

Scholars, professionals, and program directors from 14 leading universities, colleges, and high schools both in the U.S. and in China, reported on their teacher training methods.  Also, twelve scholars explored various issues on CFL teacher development.  About 50 participants joined in the discussion.  The forum not only convened well-known experts in Chinese language teacher training, but also drew attention of renowned CFL scholars and officials.  The Director of NOCFL, Meihua Yan, and its Assistant Director, Jianfei Ma, gave opening remarks.  The distinguished linguist from Beijing University, Professor Jianming Lu, was also present.  All participants concurred that teachers are the key to language instruction.  To have quality, professional Chinese language teachers, more attention has to be paid to teacher development.

 

今年七月四日,在北京首都经贸大学首次召开了汉语作为外语教学师资培训研讨会CFL Teacher Development: Goals, Criteria, Implementation, and Assessment)。此次研讨会由三个单位合作主办:国家对外汉语教学领导小组办公室, 首都经贸大学,ACC。研讨会组委成员有赵燕青(国家汉办师资处),靳洪刚(Hamilton College),刘力嘉(Indiana University),梁新欣(the University of Virginia)。此次研讨会进行了以下五个方面的议题及讨论:

1.        了解目前各汉语学习项目中汉语作为外语教学师资培训的实际状况

2.        听取参训学员对不同培训方法的反馈与感想

3.        探讨在招聘教师、职前及在职培训、教师资格认定中所遇到的问题

4.        讨论汉语作为外语教学专业教师应具备的条件以及所需的知识和技能

5.        研讨评估汉语作为外语教学专业教师的标准及方法

参加会议的专家、学者约五十人,来自14 个美国及中国不同的大学及高中汉语学习项目及海外留学项目。除了12位与会专家、学者就以上五个方面进行专题报告以外,研讨会的与会人员还就每个专题进行了深入的讨论。此次研讨会不但荟萃了美中在教师培训方面的专家和学者,而且还受到各界学者及专家的重视。国家汉办主任严美华,副主任马箭飞到会致辞并参与讨论,中国北京大学著名语言学专家陆俭明教授也专程到会参加讨论。与会人员一致认为教师是语言教学的重要组成部分,若要建设好一支专业的语言师资队伍,教师培训是关键.

敬启者:

 

“世界汉语大会”是以“全球化背景下的汉语和汉语教学”为主题的世界性大会,是为繁荣和发展世界汉语教学和推动汉语言文化传播提供的一个文化交流的平台,同时也是中国语言文化和世界各语言文化交融的汇合点。世界汉语大会期间,还将组织名为“汉语桥活动周”的大型系列活动,包括汉语作为外语教学的历史回顾与成就展、第四届世界大学生中文演讲比赛以及世界优秀汉语教材奖颁奖典礼等。

现将具体事宜奉告如下:

 

一、时间和地点

1、时间:初定于2005727日至30日。

2、地点:中国 北京。

 

二、会议经费:

        1、往返旅费自理;

2、会议费:1800元人民币或200美元(含3天食宿费,超出天数费用自理)。凡已缴纳会费的世界汉语教学学会会员享受50%优惠。

3、会议中途离会者,食宿费及会议费恕不退还。

 

三、本届大会的中心议题

在世界汉语大会“全球化背景下的汉语和汉语教学”的总主题下,由三个分主题组成:

内容:  1、汉语对今后国际交往的作用与地位

2、介绍各国推进汉语教学的政策与措施以及所存在的问题

4HSK在促进世界汉语教学发展进程中的作用与思路

主题2、汉语作为外语教学的研究---第八届国际汉语教学讨论会

内容:  1、对外汉语教学与学习规律研究

2、面向对外汉语教学的汉语本体研究,尤其是对外汉语教学语法系统研究

3、对外汉语教学教材与教师队伍建设

4、对外汉语教学学科建设的基础和背景

5、现代教育技术在对外汉语教学上的研究与应用

主题3、海外汉学研究的历史、现状与未来

内容:1、海外汉语学习与汉学研究史

2、中国语言文化在海外的传播及影响(如汉语汉字传播史、中国文史哲经等方面的经典著作在海外的传播与影响)

3、当代海外汉学研究与汉学教育的新进展

 

四、会议工作语言:汉语第一个议题分会场提供同声翻译

The 2005 Conference of the Chinese Language Teachers' Association of Greater New York (CLTA-GNY)–

International Conference on Teaching Chinese

多方位的中文教學

Date: Saturday, May 7, 2005

Location:  Brooklyn College, 2900 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

 The theme of the conference will be "Teaching Chinese in Multiple-Perspective” and will focus on the following topics:  Method and Actualization: Teaching Chinese as a second language and application strategies, including teaching pronunciation, grammar, reading, and writing, and classroom methods.

 The CLTA-GNY Conference Committee welcomes submissions of one page proposals on subjects relevant to the above themes. Papers can be either in Chinese or English. We will consider proposals for panels as well as individual papers and all proposals will be reviewed anonymously. Individual papers will be grouped into panels by themes. Panels will be 75 minutes long with four presenters. Please note that we will need separate abstracts for each paper on any panel proposal.

 Please include the below "Attendee's Information Form" with your proposal. Notice of acceptance will be sent out by March 31 electronically. Anyone who needs a hard copy of the notice should include a special request with their proposal. Following the conference, we plan to produce a CD of the conference proceedings.  Authors of accepted papers who wish to have their papers considered for inclusion in the proceedings should plan to supply us with a hard copy and a disk copy of their papers. The required format for these papers is:  1” margin on the four sides, 12 point font; English papers should use MS Word with Times New Roman font; Chinese papers should use MS Word with SimSun or PMingLiU font or NJSTAR.  For information about CLTA-GNY, please visit http://clta-gny.org. THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA.  The University of North Dakota invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chinese Studies at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning August 2005.  Applicants should have experience in language teaching at the college level and native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English. 

Primary teaching responsibility is instruction in Mandarin.  In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to offer regular courses in Chinese area studies, direct the growth of the Chinese Studies program, and work with the College of Business program in Shanghai. Ph.D. preferred.  Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in, and strong commitment to student-centered learning.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA.  The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies invites applications for anticipated Lecturer positions in Chinese language instruction for the 2005/06 academic year, part or full time, contingent upon need and funding.  The appointments are potentially renewable on a yearly basis.  The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service.  Applicants should have an MA degree in Chinese language acquisition or a closely related area with native or near native proficiency in Chinese in addition to significant teaching experience.  Lecturers will be expected to teach various modern Chinese language courses, and should be willing and able to train teaching assistants, compile teaching materials, and design curriculum.  Familiarity with computer assisted language instruction and other technology in language-teaching is desirable.  The salary is based on U.C. scale and depends upon qualifications.  Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement.  The application deadline is February 15th, 2005, however, the search will continue until the position is filled. Kalamazoo College invites applications for a one-year position in Chinese language and humanities to begin in the fall of 2005. Teaching responsibilities will be focused on Chinese language and culture courses. Familiarity with the use of information technology in language instruction

Washington and Lee University

CHINESE LANGUAGE and LITERATURE

 

The Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures at Washington and Lee University invites application for a one-year appointment at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor or Lecturer, in Chinese language and literature beginning July 2005. The position is pending budgetary approval. Salary is competitive. It involves language teaching at all levels (1st through 4th year levels). Depending on the specialty of the candidate, he/she may be expected to teach a Chinese literature course in English translation. We prefer candidates with a Ph.D. in Chinese language or literature, with native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English, although ABDs or competent MA candidates will be considered. Evidence of commitment to dynamic and effective undergraduate teaching is essential.
