The Department of East Asian Languages and Literature invites
applications for an appointment at the Assistant Professor rank (tenure track)
in Chinese Language and Linguistics, beginning August 2004. Applicants should
have a Ph.D. or equivalent at the time of appointment in Chinese Linguistics,
Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition or Foreign Language Education,
and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research. Applicants
should also have experience in language teaching and native or near-native
proficiency in Chinese and English. Teaching responsibilities are four courses
a year, which include undergraduate Chinese language courses as well as graduate
level courses in the appointee's area of specialization. Other duties include
supervision and training of graduate teaching assistants. For full consideration,
