Selecting a Topic

 

 LATINO E-JOURNALS, MAGAZINES & NEWSPAPERS

The following is a selected list of full-text electronic journals in Chicano and Latino Studies.  A subject approach to any topic should begin in a Research Database .  The  Research Databases can only be accessed  by CSULB students, staff, and faculty .

Journals 
Americas, The  (Volume 57, 2000- )
The Americas is one of the primary English language journals on Latin America history. To find full-text articles on your research topic access this periodical by using Project Muse

Aztlan: International Journal of Chicano Studies (Volume 1, 1970-Volume 22, 1997)
Aztlan is the leading peer-reviewed journal for the discipline of Chicano and Latino Studies.  Full-text of articles from Vol. 1, no1 (Spring 1970) to Vol. 22, no. 2 (Fall 1997) is provided courtesy of the UCLA, Chicano Studies Research Center.  For subject research use the Chicano Database or Social Science Abstracts.  When you have a bibliographic citation go to Aztlan to retrieve the full-text article.

Centro Journal
Now in its fifteenth year, the journal of the Centro of Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College (CUNY) has proven to be one of the CENTRO's most important links to the public. A multidisciplinary, bilingual, refereed publication that welcomes scholarly articles in the humanities and the social and natural sciences, as well as interpretive essays, interviews, fiction, reviews and art, CENTRO reflects developments in the field of Puerto Rican studies.

Hispanic American Historical Review ( Volume 79, 1999- )

Hopscotch:  a Cultural Review (Volume 1, 1999- )

Latin American Music Review (Volume 22, 2001-)

Nepantla:  Views From the South (Volume 1, 2000- )

Full-text of current issues of this popular magazine are provided.  Back issues from 1999 to the present are also accessible.  This publication is indexed in EthnicNewswatch.

Newspapers
The research database Ethnic NewsWatch provides full-text access to many newspapers written by Latinos for the Latino community around the United States. Both English, Spanish, and bilingual publications are included.   Access to La Opinion, the leading  Spanish language publication in Southern California, is available via Ethnic NewsWatch.
