More than 200 Head Start educators have enthusiastically participated in 5 days of hands-on science training at sites in California and New York State. Their response has been overwhelmingly positive, and they have urged us to make this opportunity available to others.
 

At the Head Start on Science Summer Institute, you will:
 

•    Learn how to encourage a sense of wonder in both children and adults
•    Become skilled at facilitating science learning
•    Practice asking questions that help young children to learn
•    Learn how to identify and use appropriate science materials and activities for young children
•    Find out how to involve parents through Family Extension activities
•    Learn how to integrate science into your daily routine

A Head Start on Science began as a 2-year project at California State University; Long Beach, supported by a grant from the Head Start Bureau of the US Department of Health and Human Services, to develop training and a science curriculum for Head Start children and their families. NOW, the curriculum and the training are being made available to EVERYONE!
