OUR MISSION:
To make developmentally-appropriate science available to preschool children
throughout the United States by serving as a national advocate on behalf
of science for young children, their teachers, and their families.
SERVICES OF THE CENTER:

Create awareness of
both the role and benefits of science for pre-school youngsters;
-
Gather and disseminate
information about age- and developmentally-appropriate early childhood
science approaches, curricula, activities, and other resources;

Offer training opportunities
to assist teachers and early childhood leaders who wish to engage children
in age- and developmentally- appropriate "sense of wonder" science;

Establish a national
network of ten or more "Head Start on Science" Training / Dissemination
Sites;

Seek affiliations
with a broad spectrum of science and early childhood professional organizations
who share our interest in making high-quality science experiences available
to young children;

Work with others toward
incorporating appropriate science training requirements in Early Childhood
certification programs;

Share information
about the Center and about science for young children through a variety
of avenues such as a Center website, occasional newsletters, and workshops
and conferences.
