With a great October start, coupled with a third-place finish at the CSULB Rugby Invitational, the Long Beach State 49er Rugby team would travel to Las Vegas which played host to a couple of matches by the 49ers.
In the first match of the Las Vegas Invitational for Long Beach State , a tough, gritty performance saw them fall to St. George, 17-15. However, they would strike back with a 20-0 shutout of the Las Vegas Barbarians.
The UNLV Rebels would then wheel themselves into town the following week for a tilt with The Beach. Unfortunately, luck would run out on the Rebels, as the Beach routed UNLV 56-15.
Next Sunday will see Long Beach State play host to USC, who are looking to exact payback after losing to the Trojans in the CSULB Tournament. After the Thanksgiving break, the rugby team will tackle UC Irvine at Irvine on Friday, December 2 (time TBD)before wrapping up the Fall season with a scrimmage at Belmont Shore on the 11th and UC Santa Cruz at the Beach Rugby Field on the 17th.
