Harder Stadium a hard place for the Beach to get a victory, fall 41-13

Harder Stadium, on the campus of UC Santa Barbara, has hosted matches in association football and American football. The UCSB men's and women's soccer teams take care of business, while the locals once tasted excitement on the gridiron with the Gaucho football team, now disbanded. But in the spring, Harder is converted into a rugby stadium, and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos hosted the struggling Long Beach State 49ers.

Like its recent matches, the Beach were unable to deliver and snap an already galling losing streak, falling 41-13, on Saturday, March 15. The 49ers fell to 6-9, 3-5 in the SCRFU (16 pts). UC Santa Barbara finished their league season at 6-3 in the SCRFU (28 pts).

Long Beach State closes SCRFU play against the San Diego State Aztecs on March 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the CSULB Rugby Field. The Aztecs, along with the Cal Poly Mustangs, have both qualified for the National Tournament.
