The Long Beach State Rugby team opened their run to the 2006 Spring rugby season Hosting the University of San Diego Toreros on January 28, followed by a road trip to Earl Warren Field on the campus of the University of California, San Diego to take on the Tritons.
In the game against USD, a last-gasp try by flanker Tetsuo Ozeki capped off a close contest, with the 49ers prevailing over the visiting Toreros, 31-22, at the CSULB Rugby Field.
