Happy New Year from the Beach Rugby Team!

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

On behalf of the CSULB Rugby Team, I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year. With 2007 starting, we've got the real season coming to us. The Southern California University Division is one of the most hard-fought leagues in collegiate rugby in the United States, and with former D-II powerhouse Claremont joining, the competition gets even tougher.

In less than two weeks, the 49ers, led by outside center Robert Hughes, continue their 2006-07 campaign with a match against the San Jose State Spartans on January 14 at the CSULB Rugby Field. Admission to the game, as always is free.

We hope you continue to come to our games, and enjoy the hard hits, tackles, scrums, rucks, mauls, and and free flowing fun that is rugby union. Bring your family, friends, loved ones, and even your hounds from hell; we're loaded, locked and ready for another solid Spring semester.

GO BEACH!
