Task B: Proposal

Instructions to the Student Author

Use this assignment to complete the preliminary steps in developing your analytical report due at semester's end, as begun in Exercise Set A with Phase One on page 170. Be sure to read Chapters 9 and 22 before attempting this assignment.

Create a single word processing (or typewritten) document based upon the General Model for Proposals, pages 528-529. For suggestions, check pages 519-521. Follow the proposals checklist on pages 547-548.

Prepare double-spaced pages with one-inch borders and a monospaced Pica typewriter font (12-point Courier). Use left justification with ragged right margins. Your name, short ID (letter-number) and date must appear on each page, typically as a header across the top.


Instructions to the Peer Editor

View the assignment on screen or on paper.

  1. Add your comments to the screen or paper version.
  2. Suggest improvements, additions, or deletions as you judge to be appropriate.
  3. Have the task instructions been followed?
  4. Are there any spelling or grammar errors?

Once you are done with editing, provide your instructor with a copy of the edited assignment. Use electronic mail (e-mail) to submit a single file containing the original assignment, with your comments added both within the document and as a final note. In the e-mail subject field, place the Author ID, the assignment title, and your Editor ID.
