Version 2.0 -- Revised 12-Jun-96

Grade Plan

Grades are assigned on the basis of accumulated points, as shown in the table below. To maximize the value of your work submitted, no "lowest scores" will be dropped. Quizzes are optional for extra credit, while Insurance exercises add to the higher score on the Fundamentals Diagnostic Exam (Entry or Exit).

Bonus Points

Timeliness counts. Students enjoy a bonus of five points for each item submitted on the due date (on-time bonus) plus an additional bonus of five points for each item submitted on or before the date of the previous class meeting (early bonus).

Course Prerequisite

A portion of the final grade is based upon prerequisite skills and is determined by your performance on one or both diagnostic exams and review manual workbook exercises (Insurance A, B, C and D). The Insurance scores may be added to the Fundamentals Diagnostic Exam Entry Score in order to justify not repeating the exam at the end of the semester. They may also serve to enhance your score on that Exam's Exit Score. Specifically, your Fundamentals score is the sum of the higher exam score (either at the start or at the end of the semester, whichever is higher) and your Insurance scores; the maximum is 100 percent of the exam score. This scheme is detailed in the table below.
