Psy 499 independent study units available to interested students

Graduate or undergraduate students welcome

(1) Female interviewers preferred for interviewer positions; male and female students welcome for recruiting and data entry positions

(2) Experience with issues of violence against women or women’s studies courses preferred

(3) Signed contract committing to hours and roles described below

Interviewers: 12 students needed to conduct interviewers of rape survivors

Commitment (14 hours/week):

(1) Initial 16 hour training session (2 weekends)

(2) Weekly 1 hr. support meetings

(3) Sign up for two 5 hour blocks weekly

(4) Conduct one (2-4 hours) interview weekly

(5) Complete one 2 hour phone shift weekly

Recruiters:  4 students needed to contact community agencies, post flyers, and make presentations about the project

Commitment (7 hours/week):

(1) Initial 6 hour training session (1 weekend, 1 evening)

(2) Half hr. weekly meeting

(3) 2-3 hours distributing materials weekly

(4) 1-2 hours contacting agency staff/conducting presentations weekly

(5) 2 hour phone shift weekly

Data Entry & Transcription:  4 students needed to enter statistical data and transcribe taped interviews

(3) 3-4 hours entering data weekly

(4) 2 hour phone shift weekly
