The Relationship between Family Support, Work-Related Self-Efficacy, and Job-Search Behavior among the Unemployed
The relationship between family support, job search behavior, and work-related self-efficacy was investigated in the current study. One hundred and eleven unemployed workers taking part in a JTPA program participated, completing three survey measures and a demographic questionnaire. Results demonstrated that there was not a positive correlation between the number of dependents a subject reported having and his or her job search behavior. Hierarchical regression analyses also indicated that the relationship between work-related self-efficacy and job search behavior was not influenced by age, and that work-related self-efficacy did not mediate the relationship between family support and job search behavior. Implications for research and career counseling are discussed.
