Employee-Determined Changes and the Position Analysis Questionnaire
The purpose of this study was to identify differences in jobs performed by employees with the same job title. A total of 31 employees within four different job titles participated in this study. The Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ) was chosen as the job analysis instrument for this study. The concerns of this study included the appropriateness of the PAQ for the positions sampled, the impact of “Does Not Apply” (DNA) items and the readability of the PAQ.
The results of the current study supported the theory that employees with the same job title may actually perform different duties. The high number of DNA items for all positions (85-106) was an indication that the PAQ may not be the appropriate job analysis instrument for these positions. The results of the readability questionnaire indicated that the readability of the PAQ is not an issue when the employees hold professional positions.
