The Influence of Team Design Characteristics and Personality Traits
on Short-Term Film Productions' Effectiveness
 

    This study investigated the impact that personality variables and team design characteristics have on the effectiveness of short-term film productions (SFP).  More specifically, the study argued that personality variables would have a greater impact on the effectiveness of a SFP than team design characteristics.  Results indicated the study’s first hypothesis that conscientiousness would have a higher relation with team effectiveness than team design characteristics was confirmed, although the other three hypotheses concerning agreeableness, neuroticism, and extraversion’s relations with team effectiveness were not confirmed.  In addition, results showed that team design characteristics did not have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the SFP.  Overall, the results show the limitations of using team design characteristics to assess the effectiveness of SFPs.  The findings also illustrate the need for future research to focus on why conscientiousness appears to be so much more important for effectiveness than other personality variables.
