Source of Information: the link above, Chapter 9 in your text, Majoring in Psych?; the book, Getting In and Complete Guide to Graduate Study, both found in the Graduate Resources Room of the Peer Advising Office, and, for personal experiences, the video (#4) called Statement of Purpose found in the Peer Advising Office.
    You should be able to answer the majority of questions on the CourseInfo quiz by connecting to the link above and reading chapter 9 in your text.  The other resources, while extremely useful for those seriously considering graduate school, account for less than 20% of the questions on the quiz.

Topics to review before taking the CourseInfo quiz:

1. What is the purpose of the Personal essay?  (Focus on essays for Ph.D. programs)  By what other titles is the personal statement known.?
2. What are two of the themes typically targeted by the statement of purpose/personal statement.?
3.  Be able to recognize examples which are appropriate for the personal statement as well as those which are not.
4.  Go over general tips for writing the personal statements.
5. When are selection interviews used?  How would you prepare for a selection interview?
6. What questions would you expect to be asked during the interview and what questions would you ask?
