Source of information: Follow links for basic information.  For the last question, either search the Internet , interview a psychologist, or look at the book, Career Paths in Psychology (chapter 4, 5,  or 7), found in the Career Corner of the Peer Advising office or check the reserve desk of the main library.

    Each of the first four questions should be answered, in your own words,  in a minimum of two to three sentences. Please answer each question separately and number your answer to correspond to the question number.

  1. What are the differences between clinical psychology and counseling psychology? Include differences in overall characteristics, admission standards, student characteristics, and faculty characteristics. (6 pts.)
  2. What are the two major training models for clinical psychology? (Note:  The training models are the same as the two main degrees which clinical psychologists may obtain.)  Briefly describe each. (4 pts.)
  3. Which of the models would be most suitable for your interests? Explain. (3 pts.)
  4. Which of the models would be most suitable for your qualifications? Explain.  (3 pts.)
  5. Describe in one to two paragraphs the typical day of a clinical or counseling psychologist.  (This information is available in the Career Paths book or you may also interview a clinical psychologist or do an Internet Search.  Please indicate which source of information you used.  If you looked on the Internet, give the URL for the information you found.)  (4 pts.)
