Ethnicity: Among psychology undergraduates at CSULB (1999 data) , 1% are American Indian, 8% are African American, 24% are Latino/Hispanic, 10% are Asia/Pacific Islander, 4% are Filipino, 42% White, and another 10% listed other or gave no response. Nationally (in 1994) the U.S. Dept. of Education, National Center for Education Statistics reports that .8% of college students are American Indian, 5.4% Asian, 10.1% Black, 7.3% Hispanic, and 73% White.
When viewing the ethnicity of those who earned psychology Ph.D.s in 1999, 1% were American Indiana, 4% Asian, 5% Black, 6% Hispanic, and 84% were White. (These categories are those used by APA.)
