The
Hsi Lai Temple is a Buddhist Temple. They have a
large temple complex and are used to getting visitors of all kinds,
including many students from Southern California universities. They
have recently established the Hsi Lai University.
The
International Society for Krishna Conscoiusness has a Los
Angeles Temple that hosts very many students each year doing papers
similar to yours. You can link from the LA site into the Hare Krishna

The
Islamic Center of Southern California is on Vermont Avenue in downtown
LA and the kind folks there have always graciously received student visitors.
The
Wayfarers Chapel is a beautiful place to visit. It is in Palos
Verdes and is run by the The
Swedenborgian Church.
The
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is the new Roman Catholic Christian
cathedral for the diocese of Los Angeles.
The
Mt. Baldy Zen Center is practices Rinzai Zen Buddhism It is a
monastary and retreat center that also hosts non-Buddhists for conferences
and meetings. Their primary activity, of course, is religious.
