I am the faculty advisor to
our two national freshman honor societies Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda
Delta. At CSULB, the two national groups are combined into one: Phi
Eta Sigma-Alpha Lambda Delta, or PESALD. Yes, it IS a mouthful,
but you get used to it.
Students who
have a GPA of 3.5 or higher in their first semester or in their first year
are eligible for membership. At the end of the Spring semester each
year, we have a banquet and initiation ceremony to honor and induct our
new members. If you are invited to join, you should! Of course,
you get two rather impressive memberships to put on your resume for the
rest of your life. But more than that, this is an active and interesting
group of people and a great place to connect with the campus.
