Gregory Maldonado became a faculty member at California State University, Long Beach in Fall 2000, where he is Director of the Cole Conservatory Collegium Musicum, Instructor of Modern and Baroque Violin/Viola, Chamber Music Coach, and Music History Lecturer. He recently completed a Doctorate degree in Early Music Studies and Musicology at USC, where he studied Baroque and Classical-era violin, as well as Treble and Bass viols.

Dr. Maldonado is also Founder-Music Director of the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra. As its Music Director, he has led the Orchestra through several versatile concert seasons and a broad range of collaborations with many organizations, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Music Center Education Division, The Los Angeles County Arts Commission's Summer Nights at the Ford Program, Grand Performances, the Skirball Cultural Center, and Long Beach Opera.

He has worked with many renowned period-instrument specialists, including Christopher Hogwood, Ton Koopman, Monica Huggett, Gustav Leonhardt, Trevor Pinnock, Nicholas McGegan, and Anthony Newman. Maestro Maldonado and L. A. Baroque have been featured on National Public Radio's Performance Today; the Orchestra has also performed in the Berkeley Early Music Festival, as well as other concert series throughout the United States, and at major festivals in England and Germany.

Dr. Maldonado, a native of Merced, California, has served as Instructor of Baroque Violin at USC and UCLA; he was Director of the USC Early Music Ensemble during Spring 1996 and was appointed Director of Musica Antiqua at UC Santa Barbara for the 2002-2003 academic year. In addition, he was a Music History and Applied Music Lecturer for the Riverside Community College District from 2003 through 2007. He received his Bachelor of Music from UCLA, where he studied with Alexander Treger and began playing the Baroque violin; he continued his Baroque violin studies with Monica Huggett in Canada and England. He has a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from CSULB, where he was named Outstanding Graduate in the College of the Arts for 2003.

Maestro Maldonado recently appeared as a Guest Conductor with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra during their 2008-09-concert season. He has recorded on the Harmonia Mundi, RCM, Centaur, and Rococo labels.
