Gregory Maldonado joined the Music Department faculty at California State University, Long Beach in the Fall 2000 semester, where he is Director of the Collegium Musicum, Instructor of Modern and Baroque Violin, chamber music coach, and Music History Lecturer. Mr. Maldonado is also Founder-Music Director of the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra. As its Music Director, he has led the Orchestra through nineteen versatile concert seasons and a broad range of critically acclaimed collaborations with many organizations, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Music Center Education Division, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission's Summer Nights at the Ford program, Grand Performances, the Skirball Cultural Center, and Long Beach Opera.

He has worked with many renowned period-instrument specialists, including Christopher Hogwood, Ton Koopman, Monica Huggett, Gustav Leonhardt, Trevor Pinnock, Nicholas McGegan, and Anthony Newman. Maestro Maldonado and L. A. Baroque have been featured on National Public Radio's Performance Today; the Orchestra has also performed in the Berkeley Early Music Festival, as well as other concert series throughout the United States, and at major festivals in England and Germany.

Mr. Maldonado, a native of Merced, California, has served as Instructor of Baroque Violin at USC and UCLA, and was appointed Director of Musica Antiqua at UC Santa Barbara for the Fall 2002-2003 academic year. Mr. Maldonado is also Head of the String Area and Music History Lecturer at Riverside Community College. He received his Bachelor of Music from UCLA, where he studied with Alexander Treger and began playing the Baroque violin; he continued his Baroque violin studies with Monica Huggett in Canada and England. Mr. Maldonado has a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from CSU, Long Beach, where he was also named Outstanding Graduate in the College of the Arts for 2003. He has recorded on the Harmonia Mundi, RCM, and Centaur labels.
