Gervacio José E. Brondial is an Assistant Professor of Music at California State University, Long Beach. A piano performance alumnus of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music in Manila, Philippines, he took further studies in music at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where he obtained his B.M. and M.M. degrees under the guidance and supervision of Sister Loma Zemke, OSF, DMA, an internationally recognized expert in Kodály Pedagogy.
His postgraduate training in Kodály Methodology is from the Zoltan Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemet, Hungary. Professor Brondial received his training and certification in the Swiss Dalcroze Eurhythmics Approach from the Manhattan School of Music and the Julliard School in New York, N.Y. His postgraduate Dalcroze study is from the Institute Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva, Switzerland. His Orff Shulwerk training and certification is from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN and from the Hochshule Fur Musik Und Darstalende Kunst "Mozarteum" Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria.
He is a well-rounded musician who can train and motivate children to learn and enjoy music. Prior to his employment at CSULB, he was the music specialist at Paco Catholic School in Manila, St. Francis School in Petoskey, Michigan and at the Friends School in Detroit, Michigan. He was also an adjunct faculty at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Professor Brondial is a sought-after international music clinician. He has presented and conducted seminar-workshops on music pedagogy in the Philippines, USA, England, Thailand, Lebanon, Jordan, the State of Kuwait, Spain, and Switzerland.
