Matt Pogue has been an employee of CSULB since 1993. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a music concentration from CSULB in 1998, and two additional B.A. degrees in Classics/Greek and Classics/Latin from CSULB in 2006, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named the Distinguished Undergraduate Student for the department of Comparative World Literature and Classics.

As an undergraduate, he spent time performing with the Chamber Singers and sang in CSULB's productions of Donizetti's Elixir of Love and Orff's Carmina Burana. Some of his extraneous past musical projects include: Olla Podrida (voice, guitar), Slow Moving Vehicle (guitar, Theremin), Luminous Flux (voice, guitar, Theremin), Lead and Thoughts and Spears (backing vocals), Deathblossoms (voice, guitar, bass, Theremin, piano, bottles, percussion, circular saw, cello), and Submersive (voice, guitar, bass), performed in 2000 at CSULB's Soroptomist House for Glenn Bach's masters thesis. In 2005 Matt sang as a member of Opera Pacific in the Riverside County Philharmonic's performance of Carmina Burana, and in 2006 he contributed guitar, keyboard, and looper in a live improvised ensemble piece for India Howlett's masters typography installation at California State University, Los Angeles. Recently Matt has been collaborating with local LA/Long Beach chanteuse Joy Shannon and can be heard on her 2008 album As In The Wilderness, with local appearances currently scheduled. He has also begun a new folk/shoegaze/prog rock/looper project with longtime collaborators David Nadal and Brian Halter (of Lead and Thoughts and Spears) tentatively titled Cipher.

Matt is a graphic artist for the Music Department, providng print advertizing and programs for the many music ensembles. He also provides web development and maintenance, technology support, and staffing for the Music Resource Center.
