The Music Resource Center (MRC) is the special collections library in the Music Department. It houses the performance parts for all of the major performance groups in the department including the Orchestra, Bands and Choirs. It also has a collection of over 5,000 records of historical vocal and instrumental performances, and has listening stations where students may listen to these in-house use only recordings.

The Music Department "Archive of Live Performances" is also housed in the MRC, which is a collection of recordings of the student performance groups from 1991 to the present.

Although materials from the Music Resource Center do not circulate, the University Library, located at the South end of the campus, has a circulating collection. Access to information about the Library holdings can be found through their on-line catalog, COAST. Their collection contains recordings which include records, audio cassettes, and compact discs, and in its general collection musical scores, performance parts, and books on music education. The University Library has on staff a music specialist librarian to assist you with music reference questions.

Judith Bell received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from CSULB 1974. She has been with the university since 1976 and with the Music Department since 1990.
