Welcome to Keyboard Studies at California State University, Long Beach.
The CSULB Keyboard Studies program offers the best of both worlds: the personal, intensive training of a conservatory and the diverse opportunities of a university. Piano students study with outstanding artist faculty with international and national reputations as performers, and enjoy 24-hour access to excellent practice instruments, including Steinway grands. Students participate in department-sponsored concerts and guest master classes each semester. As part of a large music department, there are abundant opportunities for performance collaborations in various ensembles, as well as freelance opportunities for qualified students. Generous scholarships and assistantships are available by audition.
Recent keyboard graduates have:
- Won first place in state-level MTNA and MTAC solo and concerto competitions
- Received an invitation to perform at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference in Las Vegas, NV
- Attended selective music festivals at Aspen, Brevard, and Casalmaggiore (Italy)
