Journey to Monterey with Jazz at the Beach—September 18-20, 2009
The Concert Jazz Orchestra at California State University, Long Beach and the vocal jazz ensemble Pacific Standard Time (PST) have each captured a first-place win at the 5th annual "Next Generation Festival" which is hosted by the Monterey Jazz Festival to showcase the best emerging talent in jazz.
As a result of the prestigious awards, both groups will perform at the Monterey Jazz Festival, held September 18-20, an event that has led the world in jazz education since 1958. As the top university ensembles this year, both groups received a trophy, a guaranteed performance slot on one of the festivals eight stages, and a check for $1,000.
This year, the CSULB Jazz at the Beach program is offering friends, family, supporters and alumni an opportunity to journey with them to this legendary festival. The information on the excursion is detailed below. If you need additional information, please call Bethany Price at (562) 985-4326 or e-mail bprice2@csulb.edu.
